I Do Not Love You...
I do not love you as if you were salt rose, or topaz,
or the arrow of carnations the fire shoots off.
I love you as certain dark things are to be loved,
in secret, between the shadow and the soul.
I love you as the plant that never blooms
but carries in itself the light of hidden flowers; thanks to your love a certain solid fragrance risen from the earth, lives darkly in my body.
I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where.
I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride;
so I love you because I know no other way
than this: where I does not exist, nor you,
so close that your hand on my chest is my hands
so close that your eyes close as I fall asleep.
-Pablo Neruda
Its so simple and sweet.
Favorite love poem and why? please write it down.?
Thanks for the Pablo Neruda translation, very good - I really like Neruda. This one is actually quite similar in form, I love it for its certainty and quiet slow burning passion.
Elizabeth Barrett Browning
SONNETTS FROM THE PORTUGESE
XLIII
How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of Being and ideal Grace.
I love thee to the level of everyday's
Most quiet need, by sun and candlelight.
I love thee freely, as men strive for Right;
I love thee purely, as they turn from Praise.
I love thee with the passion put to use
In my old griefs, and with my childhood's faith.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost saints,--I love thee with the breath,
Smiles, tears, of all my life!--and, if God choose,
I shall but love thee better after death.

Those words you’ve made
Of all many daily-feelings you pick
And the chocolate you lick
There’s something you want to trade
You’re supposing me be the one
Am I right or this just a silly suspicious?
Then I came up being so confuse
With my classic vows that cannot even be done
I do know you, and I really DO
Even the trespassers wouldn’t so hard to understand
With the things we’ve been pull and extend
And the distance that we hold on to
Miles away of ramp and unfair
Taking our dreams away to the secret place
Among the processed and virtual space
So no one can hear our rightful share
To meet you it’s just a simple must
If there comes a time
Then could be our end line
Before those words could kill both of us
But then I see a great wound
Far beyond our time
In the world of everything’s not fine
I’m so afraid I can’t shine you even with the moon
So here where I laid
Down on empty earth
From my death to rebirth
Just waiting the ability to be paid
My burdens are needless of your touch
I could consume it all
With my rises and fall
I just need the dim of your torch
In this long cave we are powerless
But I don’t want a single thing to went wrong
Even in the depth of misery we could stood strong
So we can find the end of completeness
One thing you don’t know is I walk so slowly
Rush and compulsion is my nature of being impure
To reach you it’s a work of measure
Of the distances, as far as my mind goes clumsy
Reply:My favorite is "Marriage" by Wendell Berry:
How hard it is for me, who live in the excitement of women and have the desire for them in my mouth like salt.
Yet you have taken me and quieted me.
You have been such light to me that other women have become your shadows.
You have come near me with the nearness of sleep.
And yet I am not quiet. It is to be broken. It is to
be torn open.
It is not to be reached and come to rest in ever.
I turn against you, I break from you, I turn to you.
We hurt, and are hurt, and have each other for
healing.
It is healing. It is never whole.

Reply:Hi!
My favorite love poem is "Lady of Shallot" by Lord Tennyson. It is way too long to put down here... so here is a link...

Loreena McKennitt made a song from this poem that is just magical. If you ever get the opportunity, try to download it. It is amazing. I am sure even Lord Tennyson was impressed.
Best Wishes... T.
Reply:I′m well, you know…
Waiting for springs,
Serene, stable
With the hands full of fantasies
And in my eyes, solitudes.
I¨m well, you know…
Balder, fatter, older,
But I feel alive.
With more divinities.
If you could see me
(I know that you are watching me)
I eat spinach without loathing
And I drink better wine every day
And stroll slowly at dusk, along your beach
I understand the song of the waves
And the scent of your destiny is green..
I like to take a nap
( I feel that you come and cover me)
I′m well, you know…
I have never lied to you.
I only cry for your absence
I long for your kisses.
Mother!
As when I was a child
