I'm having a red white and blue 1940s inspired wedding. Don't worry classy not cheesy ;) My girls are wearing red satin tea length halter dresses and red peep toe pumps. Guys are wearing matching suits, my future hubby in his class a's WHAT should my 2 ring bearers, and 2 flower girls wear??? And can anyone find cute carnation centerpieces? I want to put bunches of red OR white carnations in galvanized tin buckets. Any other ideas? Thanks!
A 1940s wedding help?
I would put the little girls in white eyelet dresses, white Mary Jane shoes and lace bobby socks. That's what little girls wore in the 40s.
For the boys.... miniature Army uniforms wouldn't be appropriate, I don't think. You're not going for a costumed look.
In that day and time, little boys usually wore white dress shirts and some kind of twill or gabardine pants to church. A white dress shirt, dark blue pants and blue ties would be a nice, groomed look. Loafers or saddle oxfords would be appropriate footwear.
The little boys could wear flag tie tacks and the little girls could wear small flag pins, if you wanted to go that route.

Google 1940's wedding
theres dozens of links, this is just one
Reply:maybe little suits like the men for the boys and dresses the same color for the girls but a button backed tucked bodices waisted dress with a full skirt.
try looking at a vintage pattern site under 40's for more ideas
Reply:I just want to say dont you think that all BM dresses with red shoes is a bit much red??? Why not add a white or a blue sash to their dresses? Or have them wear shoes with red and white? I couldnt find any carnation centerpieces but you can go here and seach the flower decorations gallery by type of flower and color. Maybe you can get some inspiration. As for a 1940's them just think class and elegance. Interesting choice of colors by the way not many people can pull that off.
