We have a kitten with a neurological problem. She is not using the litter box. help!?

She has problems walking and stumbles alot. We need to get her to use the litter box or she will be put to sleep. We love Carnation and think she will improve as she gets older, What should we do? We have a box close by, and she can get in and out without a problem.

Poor carnation. The easy way u can do is try 2 confine her in a bathroom 4 a night with her litter in a box. That's 2get her familiar with the litter smell. In no time she will know where 2 release her self when mother nature calls. Try it u wont b disappointed. ( if it doesn't work the 1st night do try it again. Its better than 2 put her 2 sleep. She does not deserve it.)
Reply:We used 2 own few cats but not anymore. Most of them strayed cats. All of them toilet trained by my sister n mom. This was the technique they use n it really work. What is done, is done. U can always get another one when u r ready. No hurry. Thx for the rating i'm glad i can help somehow. :)) Report It
Reply:Pick up your kitten, put her in the litter box. When she is in,GENTLY scratch her paw so she know thats where she is supposed to go.it sounds nuts but I did it to my cat.She will use her instincts. If that doesn't work,go to your local pet store and but this spray that cat's don't like.Spray it where ever your cat goes.(to the bathroom;))

Good luck

p.s NEVER put your cat to sleep if she isn't suffering. It's not her fault considering she is just a kitten.I stumble alot and have tight tendance. No one killed me for that .Take care of her and she may grow up to save your life,or you could save hers
Reply:First, if you think she will improve as she gets older, why would you think about putting her to sleep for peeing outside the litter box?

Second, You should put her in a small room like a large bathroom with just a litter box, her food, and her bed unless you can be right there to watch her. She should only need a couple of weeks or less to figure out where she is supposed to potty.

If you decided you just can't keep her, try to find her a no-kill shelter. They will take her in and work with her or find a foster willing to work with her until they know the extent of her condition. Then she will be ready to be adopted. This is a far better option than death, and a regular animal shelter will mean certain death for her. Make sure you find a no-kill shelter.
Reply:get her checked at a vet to see if she has a medical problem like a urinary tract infection, common in cats and kittens
