Help me please.
I just bought a bouquet of cut carnations for my mom for mother's day, but I can't bring them into the house without her seeing them. I put them in water and in the backyard .. how long do you think they can last like that? (It's May.)
Thanks for your answers!
Will cut flowers last overnight outside? 10 points.?
If there is a safe place in the backyard, out of the sun, they should do very well. Taking the leaves off the stems that are in the water would also be helpful.
When I want my cut flowers to last longer, I place them outside at night and bring them into the house in the morning. This helps them last much longer as they prefer the cooler temperatures.
Reply:They should be ok. Make sure you keep water in them, put them in a cool place out of sun light. They can stay outside even if it is going to frost in which case you would have to cover them up to protect them from frost burn.
Reply:yes it is may. but depending on what part of the country you are in and how cold it is supposed to get they might show signs of wilting overnight. can you leave them in the garage or car. that would provide some protection from the cold.
Reply:as long as it is cool ish it should be fine. just make sure it gets no rain at all. a refrigerator is the best place, but that is the easiest place to find them
Reply:Florists keep flowers in coolers, so as long as it doesn't get below 40 they should be fine. You may want to protect them from curious birds, etc by covering them with something.
