Have similac priducts caused constipation in your newborn?
You may want to try the soy formula. It seems to be the easiest on babies tummies. My son uses Isomil and he has had no problems. Sometimes if they are constantly constipated you may want to consult her Dr.



My son had a liver problem, which caused a build of bile in his bile ducts in his liver. His gastroentologist suggested we give his apple, prune or apricot juice. It helped. He is no longer constipated.



I would suggest giving your baby a bottle of half juice and half water once a day,until the constipation is gone.
Reply:my son who is now 2 months old was going through constipation with similac formulas including the isomil which is soy based. We ended up putting him on Enfamil Nutramgin which is soy,milk and lactose free. It is kinda greasy but he hasnt been constipated. Also my doctor recommened Kayro syurp the dark kind put a teaspoon in a 2 oz bottle of formula. It worked wonders. Also talk to your doctor before switching formulas..
Reply:Yes LAWD!! I had to switch my daughters formula twice and it wasnt just my oldest . It was all 3 of my children. They say its necause of the iron. It stains like hell too. I heard Carnation was better, and cheaper.
Reply:i don't necessarily think it is the brand but rather that it is formula, not breast milk. don't get me wrong, i bottle fed my twins from the getgo. you may want to try regualar similac if you are on the advance, soy instead. check with your ped. first! good luck... my twins had the same problem. i gave them a little prune juice and water throughout the day to losen things up a bit.
Reply:It is not so much the product. It's the iron. One of my son's used to get constipated from Similac w/Iron. Even adult people get constipated when they take too much iron for their bodies. Like always, consult your babies Dr.
Reply:Honestly. Breastmilk is best. If you have to give formula whatever your little one will tolerate will do. They will all cause constipation in the beginning.
Reply:they are all the best and the same in my oppinion. i was lactose intolerant when i was a baby. so i assumed for the best that my baby was too. i give her ISOMIL SIMILAC ADVANCE. have you tried the soy formula? or lactose free?
Reply:i use to give my kids a little bit of white karo syrup when they got constipated

if this is a newborn i would only give about 1/2 tsp in next bottle of formula and see how this works. also we give my granddaughter gas drops to help with gas
Reply:My son is on Similac Neosure Advance plus Iron and we haven't had any problems. He's an almost 3 months now(adjusted 1mo) preemie and he's thriving.
