I hate breakfast food at breakfast time!
I love eggs and toast and waffles and pancakes, but i hate eating when i get up!
So, my question is, i have bought some of those Carnation Instant Breakfasts, and wanted to know if there is anyone out there who has used them while pregnant!?
Do they make you feel better? (Help battle morning sickness?)
Are they ok to use?
Breakfast?
I didn't actually use them while I was pregnant, but my doctor actually suggested buying them in case nothing else sounded good to me. They are a great source of vitamins/nurtrients when you don't feel like actually "eating" something.
I did however "eat" them when I had mouth surgery back in high school, and again.... that doctor was the one who suggested buying them since I couldn't eat solid foods for a week or so. It's a great source of the good stuff, but doesn't taste nasty like some of the other food supplement drinks and stuff.
A good way to make them even better, is to mix the power with some milk and frozen yogurt and/or ice cream. That way it's kind of like you're having an actual milk shake instead of just drinking a flavored liquid.
Instead of typical breakfast food in the morning (it made me SICK to eat first thing but I knew I needed some food in me for my tummy and for the baby).... I ate granola bars (low fat, and low sugar kind) or things like the nutrigrain breakfast bar things (again, I checked the sugar content, but most aren't too overloaded with it).
Hope that helps and blessings on the baby!!
Reply:That's really funny you should ask that...the only time I CAN stomach those is when I'm pregnant! I bought the no sugar added ones so I could make sure I was getting tons of vitamins and stuff but without a lot of sugar. However, a lot of people say milk makes heartburn worse, and heartburn can be brutal while pregnant. Congratulations!
Reply:No they don't help with morning sickness, but they do help you get the added nutrition that you might not get if you are sick or have no appetite. My doctor told me to drink one if I had no appetite. It was much easier for me to drink a cup of choc milk than trying to eat food in the stage where I had no appetite. So go ahead and enjoy!!!
Reply:when i had morning sickness the only thing ireally wanted to eat was crackers. try whole wheat toast and a smoothie. i love using yogurt, frozen strawberries, a bannana, some protein powder and a little bit of milk.
i usually dont like eating eggs and all that at breakfast either. mainly becuase i dont feel like making it ha.
Reply:you might want to make your own so it is more nutritious.
-blend 1 cup of fruit...banana's, strawberry's, whatever you like
-add1 or 2 tablespoon of nut butter...peanut butter, almond butter whatever you like
-add 1/2 cup of plain unsweetened yogurt
-add enough milk to gain the consistancy you like (about 1 cup)
-add 1 or 2 tablespoons of honey if you like
blend it up and drink....mmmmm yummy!
Reply:My sister in law had to drink carnation milk for breakfast because she didn't have an appetite in the morning and its the only thing that she could keep down until noon.
She had heart burn allot too and carnation milk seemed to work really good for that
Good Luck!

Reply:all the time. i still do, im 17 weeks. they are perfectly fine, they have a lot of vitamins in them. i used skim milk, it seemed to make me less naseous. i drink them for snacks now, and then eat every other time, im past the morning sickness. good luck, and congrats
Reply:I tried the Carnation Instand Breakfasts. They were great when I didn't feel like having to whip something together. Probably, the best breakfast to have to help with morning sickness is a dry piece of toast. No butter, or jelly, but just plain.
Reply:the should be OK to use..... making a protein shake may be healthier, and you know exactly what's in it. I make them for my toddler who doesn't like to drink milk. They really only take minutes!
Reply:You eat whatever you or the baby want whenever you want.
Reply:yeah~
