For a boutonniere......?

for a guy friend that is my date for prom i ordered a yellow carnation--meaning friendship, i figured if i got a rose it would be to lovey-dovey. Now that i have looked it up i realized that a yellow rose means frienship and a yellow carnation means rejection. Should i keep the carnation or switch to a rose? What would you do?

For a boutonniere......?
A yellow rose is not at all lovey-dovey. It means friendship, which is what your intention is. I suggest you switch to a rose--it will better convey your message (even if he doesn't know what it means!). And, a rose is so much cooler than a carnation!

See the website below for more information.
Reply:I really don't think that guys take the time to look up what flowers mean -- that is really way beyond them. A carnation is fine, but I would choose one that is about the same color as my dress.
Reply:just get what ever matches with your dress so that you can say you got it because you thought it would go well with your dress
Reply:I think you are getting to caught up in the meaning. Did the guy friend look it up too before he gave it to you? NO...he probably didn't. He picked it because he thought it was nice and that's what counts!
