Congrats on the new little one.
Reply:HI i had the same issue i have 10 kittens right now you should only give them milk if the mom is not nursing them . if she is not then dont do evaporated milk its to rich for there littel tummies. you want to give them KMR if she is not feeding them. when you are gonna start giving them solid food poor KMR over there food you want to give them nutro max kitten food .

good luck
Reply:Hi there i start weaning around the 3-4 week mark, what to do is but a tin of evaporated milk, and get whiskas kitten loaf. Put the kitten food on a big saucer and put a line of the evap milk round the outside of the plate just outside the meat, pop the food in the microwave for about 10 seconds just to heat so that it is warm to touch and then feed it to the wee ones, watch them go crazy for it my Siamese babies love it. At 5 weeks go to the vet and get Panacur worming paste it comes in a big white syringe with little black lines up the shaft and a screw round it. Place the screw at one of the marks and open the kittens mouth and squeeze it in, then move the screw up one, and do it again to the next kitten until they are all done, worm again at 10 weeks and they will be fine. I also give my kittens tuna fish in oil not brine at around 6-7weeks, also some chicken torn into small bits they love that too.

Hope this helps you
Reply:the book was just saying that if the mom isn't around at all meaning abondoned kitten then thats what you would give them. and the solid foods you would give them is kitten food, i suggest purina ONE kitten food. and start showing them the litter box as well now, it's not to early! GOOD LUCK with your kittys, any questions e-mail me i would be happy to answer
Reply:You can start giving your kitty dry cat food like Purina Kitten Chow, or you can give her canned cat food. Be sure to always have a dish of fresh water out for her too. The mama may still be nursing but it is a good idea to start on cat food before totally weaned- supposed to be less stressful for the cats.
