It started for me with TRL (Total Request Live on MTV)...
And then it was SNL (Saturday Night Live)...
And then the high school student council became StuCo
And a television show I used to watch as a kid called Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles recently became a film called TMNT...
And... no joke... Carnation Instant Breakfast, which I love, has been advertised as CIB. I was heartbroken.
Are people really that lazy??
What is it with the world's obsession with abbreviating everything?
LOL...Let's go ask Bennifer, or TomKat, or....oh, forget it.
Reply:It saves time, I don't think it's that they are that lazy, I think for most it is more like they are that busy
Reply:Its something the companies use to make better slogans!
Reply:It's nothing new. Abbreviations have been used for a thousand years.
Reply:I was noticing the same thing. But actually.. no offense to the younger generation but I think its geared towards THEM. Since everything is an acronym.. tmi, lol, ttyl, fyi... now in advertising they turn to abbreviations and acronyms to suit the younger generation. Burger King-BK, Dairy Queen-DQ, Kentucky Fried Chicken-KFC.
Reply:YEP ! LOL, YOU NEED TLC, YOU PYT !
Reply:OMG! 4real? What is the world coming 2? lol j/k
I know. My kids speak in abbreviations now. They think its cool. I can't stand it!
Reply:Mostly itis because people are becoming lazier and lazier. They can't even find the motivation to write 2 more letters.it drives me insane sometimes too.
Reply:I LUV U EV FA !
Reply:It used to be Kentucky Fried Chicken, now it's KFC.I know what you mean.
Reply:People are really that lazy!!! It's fun though, if you talk in all acronyms, because people can't figure out what you're saying.
Oh, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles NEEDED to be abbreviated so badly!!! I would just call them the Nijas when I was little...too hard for a little kid to say.
