How do I gain weight?

I'm 17 years old and weigh 85 lbs. I wanna gain at least 20 pounds, but nothing is working. How do I do it?? I've tried eating more, the doctors gave me Carnation instant breakfast. and that didnt work!!! HELP ME PLEASE!!!

Reply:I don't know be careful, gaining too much weight at once can be dangeous. If you are gaining weight please be aware of unhealthy foods, you want to gain weight not die. Other than that stop eating all together, then slowly introduce food back into your system, you body will store it in case of another time without food.
Reply:Try nutritional supplements, like Boost plus and Ensure plus. These have 350 calories, so try them with 2-3 meals a day. Increase your calories to 3000-4000. This sounds like a lot of food, but you need to condense your calories. Eat lots of high-calorie NUTRITIOUS foods like:

raisins, nuts, granola, full-fat dairy products, yogurts, ice cream, peanut butter, olive oil, meat, whole wheat bagels with cream cheese, eggs, whole wheat waffles, etc.



Also, if possible, try to decrease your cardio (running, biking, etc) exercise. You can do weight training, because this does not burn very many calories and it tones your muscles. Also, try to record your food intake so you get a good idea of how many calories you are taking in, so you can adjust them according to your weight gain rate. A safe weight gain rate is 2-4 pounds a week.



If none of this works, see a doctor to get some blood tests done, because you might have a thyroid problem. Good Luck!

Eat foods higher in calories, vitamins, and minerals, as opposed to higher in fat or sugar.

Limit drinking beverages to a half-hour before and after a meal.

Snack in between meals. Nuts, dried fruits, and yogurt are good options, but it's also important to find nutritious foods that you will enjoy.

Have a nutritious snack before bedtime, such as a peanut butter sandwich.

Eat potatoes, they will help you gain most of the weight

Also, besides eating more you need to exercise so you could add some pounds of muscle as well.

It is very important for you to exercise while You are eating more so you could gain weight the healthy way.
