Hey guys, can i grow carnations from just a stem, cos my hubby bought me that wit roses,so i'd love to grow dem

No, sorry, there are no root nodes on the flower stems to grow roots. You will have to buy plants at a garden center in the spring.

no that wont work sorry
Reply:If there are any leaves on it, it's possible. Buy hormone rooting powder in your local G.C, cut the stem back to one or two leaves, sow the stem in compost, place in direct sunlight and cover over with clear plastic, its a lot of hasssle though, you might be as well to buy seeds and start from scratch
Reply:Carnations are grown from seeds. They cannot be propagated from the stem unless they are the perennial variety.
