What type of boutonnieres is more masculine?

My boyfriend likes to feel masculine and I just wanted some opinions on what you thought was a more "masculine" flower: carnation or rose?

I know roses cost a bit more but I've always associated roses as something feminine, which is why I'm having a hard time chosing. /:

I think roses are more sophisticated and therefore more easily transcend the whole masculine/feminine thing. You might ask a florist directly, they'd have a better feel for the "language" of flowers. Better still, ask your boyfriend which he would prefer.
