Can I train myself to not becoming lactose intolerant?

I have a feeling that I'm becoming lactose intolerant. Here's a clue: Two weeks ago, I bought some Carnation breakfast mix from Costco--it's the stuff that you mix with a cup of milk and drink in the morning. I've been having this stuff for two weeks now and every morning after taking it, I'd visit the bathroom at least 2-3 times. My stomach would rumble through out the day. This doesn't end until about 4-5 in the afternoon.

I didn't used to drink milk daily like that, but I don't remember having so many stomach problems until now. I am fine eating icecream/cheese and other dairy products (or so I think).

I'm still having this breakfast drink because the discomfort level is not that bad and it's considered a healthy breakfast. I used to never eat/drink breakfast. And I'm thinking that if I keep this up eventually, the discomforts will go away and my stomach will get used to it. What do you think? Is this a good idea? and why do people become lactose intolerant all of the sudden?

Can I train myself to not becoming lactose intolerant?
Actually, yes! You can train yourself not to be lactose intolerant! I grew up lactose intolerant (no ice cream and lots of soy milk, blah!) but when I was 16 my doctor gave me another option. He told me that if I started eating just a small amount of dairy everyday I could train my stomach to accept it. The reason we're lactose intolerant is because our digestive tracks are lacking the enzyme which actually digests the milk. Since we don't have it our bodies freak out when we have a yogurt or an ice cream or whatever. By having a tiny bit everyday you slowly build the enzyme back up in your system. It took a long time, about a year, but I can honestly say I have no more problems.

So yes, you can train yourself not to be lactose intolerant but you can't shock your system into accepting dairy products. Consuming large amounts of dairy everyday makes you ill which clears it all from your body, thus kicking out any enzymes you may be trying to build up! I found that a spoon full of yogurt every day for a few moths is a good place to start. If that's working for you then move up from there!

Good luck and I hope this was helpful!

PS

Many people become lactose intolerant suddenly. If you avoid dairy products for a long time your body naturally stops producing the enzyme that digests them. Also many children become lactose intolerant during growth spurts and teenagers often develop it during puberty.
Reply:Sounds like you're lactose intolerant to me

I have the same problem. You can't do anything about it except for taking over the counter medications that will allow you to consume dairy with out that horrible feeling. You could also buy Lactaid milk instead of regular milk. I switched to soy milk after becoming lactose intolerant, but it took a while to get used to the taste.
Reply:let me tell u,we ain't what we use to b.get lactaid pills.or switch to lactaid milk.no point of know return once u go lac,u don't go back.
Reply:no you cant train your self to be lactose intolerant all you can do is ask your doctor to prescrbe you something to take

my lil bro has it and he takes this medicine and he eats everything like mac and cheese and whatever other things have milk in it
