Carnation Good Start?

My little one has had a lot of problems with gas and constipation, she also has reflux which is controlled with meds, I keep hearing about the "comfort proteins"... could Good Start Supreme help with her gas and/or constipation? Please share your good and bad experiences! Thanks! Oh yeah, she is currently on Similac Advance.

Carnation Good Start?
My son first started out on enfamil which caused him to be constipated so the doctor switched him to carnation good start which he done fine on.

I used the regular kind but this was 6 years ago but my son took to it well.

Reply:Relactate. Breast is best. Talk to your doctor.

Stop making excuses and do the right thing for your child. You know it will be hard work but it can be done if you really want the very best for your child.
Reply:Our son is on Good Start. Before that he was on the Gentlease formula. He did better on the Gentlease. The Good Start is hard for him to digest even though it's supposed to be easier. He constantly has a hard time pooping. Good Start is really clumpy once it gets mixed and makes him have bad gas from all the shaking and bubbles. Only way he doesn't have such bad gas is if I make a days worth in my smoothie machine and put it in the fridge. No gas since I started that. He never had problems on the gentle stuff so we are considering switching back. I'm hoping it gets better but he's been on it 2 months almost.
Reply:We moved from Enfamil A+ to the regular Good Start and my guy is thriving on it. Never had an issue with constipation and runny diapers are always a result of the new foods I have introduced (we're just starting solids).

Some tips, make the bottle and let it sit for 15 minutes or so if using powder. This gives some of the air in the formula time to dissipate. Feed room temperature, anytime i have given my boy a warm bottle he has had awful gas.

With reflux, do not burp every ounce. My guy has silent reflux and everytime he burps he brings up stomach acid which burns his throat and then he won't eat anymore. I let him eat until he pushes the bottle out of his mouth, then burp him and offer the bottle again. If he doesn't take it and hasn't eaten his normal amount I wait 15-20 minutes and offer it again. This gives him time for the pain in his throat to go away. The other side effect of this is that he does fart more but I find it helps to move his poop out too.

Try changing the water you use, if using boiled tap water, go get some bottled water and try that. My guy's eating habits improved drastically when we switched to a non-fluoride water.

You don't say how old and if baby is going through the colic stage it won't matter what you feed her, she's going to be gassy and fussy. Especially if you see this happens in the evenings at the same time for just a few hours.

Just remember to switch slowly. There are instructions on how to mix the formulas so ease the transition.
Reply:I suspect your bub only needs to be given boiled water as her constipation is probably caused by lack of liquids. Anyway, try that. If it doesn't help, ask your doctor's advice about other products.
Reply:my son was put on the soy brand due to diarrhea and he has done great on it.

talk to her doctor about switching formula and he/she might be able to tell you the best kind to use and might even put her on formula with added rice starch which helps control the spit up.
