The carnation revolution?

Does anyone out there remember 25 of April

1974? If so, what were you doing?did you know what was going on?Are you happy

that took place?

I was in Lisbon, and i still have the record,

Grandola Vila Morena.

The carnation revolution?
I remember.

I was a little kid, and remember that me and my elder brother and sister, were jumping on the sofa repeating what was going on in tv: people in the streets shouting "o povo unido jamais serĂ¡ vencido" - in our version: "o ovo mexido, jamais serĂ¡ cozido!" lol

I remember to paint posters of MFA and walking in Lisbon in a chaimite (a war tank, with wheels) with other kids! (the parents allowed the kids to have a trip in a chaimite and didn't worried about it! good old days!)

Of course i'm happy! Those were very happy times! (well i was a kid, and had a happy childhood...)

PS -i have a single with grandola vila morena, sing by Nara Le?o (lol) it's white with a red carnation.
Reply:It was time to go to school and I was at a friend's house, his mother was going to take us, and we were deciding if we should go or not. Eventually we went and there were classes until, say, the middle of the morning. Then a father of another of my colleagues drove us back home and he was whistling. He was a communist. I had an idea what was going on. I'm glad it took place but I feel miserable with the politicians we have now, mostly our current government. I remember it all very well. And I also remember all that happened in 1974 and 1975, from September 28th to March 11th and November 25th. There was a lot going on and I plan to write a book about it sometime because history books are superficial in the sense that they don't deal with the people's memories, just politics, economics and so forth. The revolution wasn't made in a day but it's quite over now.
Reply:I was less then a year old but I was a Portuguese Military Police (Policia do Exercito) in Santarem and I went to "largo do carmo" 20 years later (1994) escorting the famous armoured car (BULA) that took "O Presidente do Conselho"to the airport in 1974.
