How do I gain weight quickly in a healthy way?

I'm 5 ft and 1 inch..I go to the doctor every week and the doctors want me to be 90 pounds. Right now I am 82 pounds and I don't want to waste my time going to the doctor every week. I've been trying to gain weight but nothing seems to be working. I eat a lot of healthy foods and I drink Carnation Instant Breakfast drinks two times every day, but I don't seem to be gaining quick enough. Help!!!

Double up on your consumption of meat. Protein will allow you to build muscle. Muscle weighs more than fat, you'll have to exercize to get it to work the right way.
Reply:The best way to add weight is to increase your intake of complex carbohydrates, particularly whole grain ones. Foods like whole wheat bread, muffins, pasta, crackers, and bagels are good to include. Also, legumes and fruits would be wise choices.



In order to gain weight, you will have to eat more calories. You will need to include regular exercise and strength training into your lifestyle in order to prevent gaining too much weight as fat. And, as I mentioned, those extra calories should come mainly from additional carbohydrate.



To start, set up a realistic goal weight for yourself. You may need to resign yourself to a less than (what you may consider) an ideal weight. Make good nutrition your priority, and weight gain the second.
Reply:in addition to eating a lot (even more than you are eating now), try doing some resistance training (with weights) to build some muscle mass. you can start off with very light weights (3-5 pounds) and really begin to develop your arms and other body parts.
