How long can a plant survive without air?

To be more specific, the plant was a carnation.

How long can a plant survive without air?
Well, I think that to photosynthesize, (make glucose, (food)) it needs CO2 (carbon dioxide), sunlight, and water. The BYPRODUCT of photosynthesis is glucose and OXYGEN. (air, duh, but just in case.) So, it doesn't need it essentially. It MAKES IT.

~Hope it helps! The Caps were just to prove MY point, not to say you were uneducated or anything. Don't take it in any personal way. :D :)
Reply:You killed a plant didn't you?
Reply:Plants must have oxygen O2 and carbon dioxide CO2 to respirate.
Reply:I believe plants require O2 to metabolize glucose into ATP. I don't think it would live very long.
Reply:I ONCE SAW A PLANT COME BACK TO LIFE AFTER A DAY IN A PLASTIC BAG,IT GREW AND HAD BABIES , THEY WERE GOOD.
