Where can I buy black carnations for an over the hill birthday party?

if you can't have the sprayed or dyed from a florist, you can buy white ones and put them in water that has black food coloring in it... you need to do this a few days before the party. the flowers will soak up the color and turn black.

The other answers are all viable options, however, the way in which carnations take dye they will probably never be black enough for you!

If you choose not to use artificial, you can buy fresh in white,or really any other color, or any other flower, and spray them. Most craft supply centers (Michael's, for instance) sell a product called Design Master, it comes in a full range of colors and is made for this purpose. I have custom colored countless roses in this way for Brides who just had to have the perfect color to match their wedding!
Reply:You could make them out of black crepe paper. Using a piece the size of a kleenex, fold it longways like a fan. Fold this in half, tie the middle and snip the closed end. If you use a pinking shears or a decorative scissors ($2 at Michael's) it looks really cute, be sure to do both sides then. Start peeling the layers apart gently until it looks like a carnation. We used to make banner for school parades out of tons of paper carnations.

Florists will spray real carnations black. You can get the silk kind at Michael's or a party store in the "over the hill" section.
Reply:You can add food coloring to the water and that will make them change color.

If you don't have luck with black, you can always use dead flowers. My sister did that for my Over The Hill Birthday party. She also did a cake in the shape of a tombstone and got a coffin as a prop. The dead/wilted flowers were on the coffin.
Reply:There are no such things as natural black carnations. I would contact a local florist and arrange to see if they can spray some for you that colour or be able to buy them dyed.

Anyway. You buy flowers from a florist. Not a grocery store. Not a website. A Florist.
Reply:Just spray paint them
Reply:fake ones at Michaels or any craft store.
Reply:Make some out of tissue paper. It's fast, easy and really cute!
Reply:Do you have a Spencer's in your area?
