Is it ok to feed a toddler canned milk like as in evaporated milk or carnation milk as a milk supplement?
When my son ran out of formula, I didn't know what to do. I called his peditrician and she asked me if he recieved W.I.C. I said yes and she told me that the evaporated milk that I get on my vouchers is for such and emergency. She told me to mix the milk with water (4 oz milk, 4 oz water) and he would be ok.
Reply:It is what people used for years and years for youngsters who would not drink whole milk but sometimes it causes constipation.
Reply:i can see the carnation milk(powdered form that you add water to) would be ok. will the baby drink 2%? if not she can always feed her baby stuff with milk in it like cheese yourgt and such.
Reply:thats really gross... i would never give that too my baby!!!
Reply:I don't think it is ok. I would ask the doctor.
Reply:Other than making her kid fat it probably won't hurt. I believe that canned milk is much sweeter than regular milk, and certainly has more calories per ounce, but in terms of vitamins and minerals it shouldn't be too bad.
Reply:Surely evap has got to be too rich, i might give it now and again, but not as a supplement. There's alot of sugar in it too which can't be good.
