Mother's Day Carnation Colors?

I was wondering if anyone knew what the colors symbolize. On Mother's Day we plan on handing out carnations at our restaurant and do not want to offend anyone if handed the wrong color. Or does it even matter?

Mother's Day Carnation Colors?
my mother likes yellow
Reply:Red if the mother is still alive, white if deceased. Ask the customer if they want white or red, don't ask if their mother is dead.
Reply:i think their pink or white and it mean appreciation and love. I don't think any of the mom's would be mad. I think they will love ya for it!
Reply:Traditionally, a person wears a white carnation on

Mother's Day in memory of their mother who has died.

Colored carnations are worn by people honoring their

mother who is alive. Since you cannot be sure whose

mother is dead or alive, just don't have any white ones.
