Is it okay to eat foods higher in sugar immediately after a workout?

I treat myself to a chocolate carnation instant breakfast drink after working out for about 90 minutes. It has 260 calories and 39 g of sugar. Since I'm trying to cut back on sugar, I wonder if its okay that I'm drinking this since it's immediately after strenuous workout.

I'd say it would be best to have if pre-workout. Then you don't have loads of sugar sitting in your belly after you just got done burning cals.



Then you'll also have a nice big burst of energy to last you the entire time. Have natural sugars like fruits after your workout.

Reply:It's good if you're trying to build muscle because taking in sugar right after a work out will spike your insulin levels.
