Tattoo Question!!!!?

My mom got a tattoo last Thursday of a carnation on her foot that extends to her ankle. It is still red and she was wondering on how long it will stay that way.

Thanks to all,

Tattoo Question!!!!?
a week or two
Reply:It takes a week or two, just make sure she's taking care of it, and keeping it clean
Reply:depends on your individual body and how irritated the area can become on a daily basis

somewhere like that usually lasts about a week, any longer and i would cuation against a possible infection

keep it wrapped whenever possible and use hemp lotion or similar to calm the skin
Reply:a week or 2.
Reply:prob a few days, 4 or 5

it depends on her healing process and stuff like that

if she is worried at all she should call her tattoo shop

a good shop would take her call and make recommendations
Reply:A few weeks, as long as she takes care of it properly, it'll be fine. :)
Reply:not to long. also don't bother it to much either.
Reply:roughly a week...keep rubbing NON SCENTED lotions on it and it will be quicker.
Reply:is it sore, or warm to the touch? or does it feel tight under it? it may be infected. only time a tattoo of mine stayed red for a prolonged period of time was when i got an allergic reaction to the cream i put on it and it got infected.
Reply:A week and a half but apply a lightly portion of lotion or grease to keep the skin moist so it want cause scar :) i think Viseline grease is the best
Reply:It shouldn't be red after more than a couple of days or so a week at most unless she's a particularly slow healer or possibly a diabetic with reduced circulation. Is she wearing anything that rubs on it or swiming / bathing as all of those will irritate it. I'd talk to the tattooist first to make sure she is looking after it properly but if it remains the same i'd consult a physician.
Reply:Foot toes and that area will take the longest to heal and the worst place to keep the color requiring yearly touch ups. Also don't use vitamin A7D or unscented lotions. Tell her to wash it a couple times a day and use Vitamin E Moisturizing ointment. When I switched my tattoos healed three times as much and it kept almost all the color, tomorrow I will be finishing my back piece that has been going for 2 and half years. I also have 52 others and I have tried it all.
Reply:tattoos on the foot can be irrated really easily my friend got hers infrected because she wore flip flops the very next day to show it off just watch out i read a lot of articles on foot tattoos
Reply:I have a tattoo on the back of my neck, after i first had it done it was a bit red but went down the next day. It was a tad sore for a couple of days but the redness went down pretty much straight away.

Tell your mum to keep a close eye on it because it sounds like she may be developing an infection. Tell her not to use body wash or soaps as that can irritate it because when she washes herself it will run down her legs on to her foot. Also no enclosed shoes, do not put ointment on it only the stuff she was given by the tattooist (she should have been given a cream to help prevent infection and inflamation by the person who did the tattoo) After i had my tattoo he gave me a small thing of cream to use daily.

But other than that if the redness doesnt ease she needs to go see a doctor.
Reply:It should be probably about a couple more days.. a week at the most.
