Reply:Mythbusters had one where they used Mentos and Diet Coke to decide if it would shoot up and it did. Watch the episode. That's about the only safe thing I have seen them do.

It basically shows Capillary Action (the way water likes to travel up objects in the right conditions, like papertowels or sponges) or the path to which water travels in a plant. Though Wednesday doesn't seem to give enough time for that.
Reply:get the plant, pour the foood colouring in, like 10 ml a day, the leaves will turn the different colour...
